This holiday party season, it’s important to remember when drinking that if you don’t stay sober, stay safe by carrying a condom and using ONE®. Unsafe sex is the most common cause of HIV/AIDS infection rates and finding ways to relieve AIDS infections directly start with preventing unsafe sex.
Alcohol use has long been associated with HIV incidences yet no evidence has proven it. A recent study conducted by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto has found that as blood alcohol content rises, so does the likeliness of engaging in unsafe sex.
According to the study, for each 0.1 milligrams per milliliter increase in blood alcohol level, there was a 5% increase in a participant’s likelihood of having unsafe sex. The more the participants drank, the more willing they were to engage in unsafe sex.
12 experiments tested the cause and effect relationship of alcohol. What it concluded was that alcohol affects decision-making and this effect increases with the amount of alcohol consumed. Jurgen Rehm, the principal researcher said that “drinking has a causal effect on the likelihood to engage in unsafe sex, and thus should be included as a major factor in preventive efforts for HIV.”
One thing is certain, the more you drink this holiday season, the more likely you will be to partake in unsafe sex. Remember even in a drunken stupor it’s important to protect yourself against HIV/AIDS and let this study guide you to safety.
ONE® Condoms directly supports sex education efforts and safe sex. You can stay safe this season ONE® Condoms here.

Also, remember to get full consent of your partners! Don’t take advantage of anyone just because they are drunk....

Yes, I do. I know that I personally was once too drunk to figure out how to use the condom correctly. Not a proud moment.
